MMA
Our M.M.A. Program is made up of three different styles. Wrestling,Jujitsu, and kickboxing. Wrestling is the most effective method to take someone down while standing. Jujitsu training covers mat work including chokes, arm bars, and acquiring dominant positions to strike on the mat. Kickboxing includes body mechanics, footwork, punches, kicks, equipment training, and drills with partners. The M.M.A. lessons are an excellent workout.
Students wear shorts, and t-shirt. Wrestling shoes are allowed on the mat. the lessons consist of learning and practicing technique as well as a good amount of free sparring. Our sparring sessions are closely watched so they never get out of control. Protective equipment is necessary for this program.
KAJUKENBO – Emperado Method
Kajukenbo was founded in 1947 at Palamas Settlement in Oahu, Hawaii. It developed out of a group calling themselves The Black Belt Society. This group consisted of Black Belts from various martial arts backgrounds who met to train and learn with each other. Perseverance in their experimentation yielded ecclectic entries, takedowns, and follow-ups with the ultimate emphasis being on survival. Simply put, Estacada-Kajukenbo stresses movement and its relation to the tremendous array of lethal techniques presented within the core of the Emperado Method. Sifu Schettino has taken the sum of his considerable practical experience and combined his reality of combative movement with specific techniques to develop a curriculum that enhances a student’s understanding of what it takes to be successful in a violent physical encounter. Shihan Sciandra has the honor of learning directly under Sifu Schettino. Shihan is a certified Instructor in Estacada as well as a Third Degree Black Belt in Estacada Kajukenbo. The Martial Arts Studio is one of the few Kajukenbo schools in New York and the only Estacada Kajukenbo school.

How do these arts relate?
Children up to 14 years old learn our Judo/Jujitsu self-defense system. Adults have the option to attend any or all of the systems that are available. We keep the styles separate. The idea is that there is no one particular Martial Art that is appropriate for everyone. At The Martial Arts Studio students have the freedom to do what suits them.
